Where I am From:
I am from Southern Vermont and this is a picture of my town from one of the highways as you come into the valley.

I am reluctant to say for sure that I have fully come to age, as I feel like I still have room to “grow up”. I have certainly grown and matured a lot when I look back on what I was like as a freshman in high school to where I am now. But I feel like it would be a bit premature to say I have fully come to age. I think for most people you don’t really “come to age” until you’re at least out of college and in the real world finding your place. But when I look back on high school to where I am now, I am mildly proud of the independence and maturity I have gained. For high school, I went to a school in Southern Vermont called Burr & Burton Academy. It is spread out like a mini college campus and it was a fantastic place to go to high school. My high school experience was different than many, however, because my dad worked (and still does) at my school. When I got there, he was the Head of the Math Department, and everyone knew me at first as “Mike’s kid”. Over time I was able to figure out an identity for myself outside of this by playing three varsity sports and being a part of the school’s musical ensemble. My parents--who are both teachers-- were always on me if I was ever slacking and pushing me to work hard. They were also always there for me if I failed in sports or whatever it may have been to support me. So, when I got to college, I struggled at first to figure out how to support myself and move beyond being “Mike’s kid”. While the first semester was regrettably tough, I did learn a lot and grew a lot at the same time. I am proud to look back at where I was then to where I am now and see the growth and independence, I have been able to mature into. So while I don’t want to say I have fully “come to age”, I am proud of where I am.
